Chocolate Maple Mocha

Tom and I have started waking up at FOUR AM, 4am, for-a-em.  You know, getting up long before the sun makes it a lot more difficult to do my makeup before I leave my house because I have to use so much more to cover the dark circles under my eyes…  So I just learned about something that helps the whole FOUR AM situation out a little bit.

Get this – a chocolate maple mocha, made with things you probably already have in your kitchen!  Friends, chocolate maple mocha.  I’ll be completely candid here; it doesn’t help the dark circles.  BUT it’s a fantastic and warm pick me up for cold and dark mornings.  Oh and coffee seems to taste even better in a cute mug.  Am I the only one who thinks that?

Chocolate Maple Mocha

A big giant mug

12 oz Coffee (French press, drip, chemex, or whatever sets your sails)

1 tsp 100% Cocoa powder

1 tsp Pure Maple syrup

3 tbsp whole milk (half and half, or any alternative milk works too)

Mix the cocoa powder and maple syrup thoroughly in the bottom of your mug.  This is actually important  because the cocoa powder DOES NOT dissolve well in the coffee (probably due to the polarity of the various molecules).  Then add the milk and stir well.  Lastly, pour that warm coffee right over the top!  OH MY GOODNESSSSSSS.  Heaven in a cup.  Enjoy!
